You’ve heard of the beer belly, but now there’s the sugar belly. It has been found that calories from added sugars are more likely to head straight for the waist. Most of these calories are from sugary drinks such as soda and sweetened teas. Stay away from these and drink water to avoid those empty calories! The average woman should not take in more then 100 calories or 6.5 teaspoons of added sugar and the average man should not take in more then 150 calories or 9.5 teaspoons.
Here’s some examples: 1 package of M&M’s contains 8 teaspoons of added sugar, 1 tbsp of honey contains 4.5 added teaspoons of sugar and a grande vanilla latte contains 4 added teaspoons.
